Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I also read "The Secret Life of Bees." I enjoyed it alot. I haven't seen the movie yet and now I'm looking forward to it. I'm actaully glad I waited to read it b/c I think I enjoyed it more with Queen Latifah's face in my mind. I've thought about reserving "Dragon Tattoo" but haven't for whatever reason. Maybe I'll just go ahead and do it.
Glad you all are back!

I really like Sue Monck Kidd...or is that Monk? I have her non-fiction book "When the Heart Waits" that I started reading last year during a particularly rough patch in my life. I haven't finished it yet but I have started it over a few times and pick it up every now and then. I find her life crisis very meaningful in a "real" life sort of way -- kind of like Eat Pray Love, but her experience is more like what the rest of us could probably relate to better than travelling for a year through Italy, India and Indonesia.
Also, I liked her novel The Mermaid Chair, too. I read it a couple of years ago and I thought it was very predictable at the time. There's a lot from that book that has come back to me in the time since I've read it which I can't say about a lot of contempary novels I've read in the past few years.
Interestingly, I think she used to be an editor for Guideposts and i'm pretty certain that she's an Episcopalian.
